Slip Sliding Away

Yesterday's storm was nothing unusual for this time of year.
In fact it's just a prelude of what's to come.
However, driving in it is nerve-wracking to say the least.
Low visibility and the sickening feeling of black ice under the snow was very scary!

See the pond?
It's okay... neither could I.

Finally - a snowplow.
Going in the wrong direction...
but at least I know I'm not alone.

Did I mention I hate snow?

The Wind

Photobucket

What tempest fury
brought you here
in angry tormented rage

borne from hell
wreaking your havoc
as punishment is waged

with icy fingers
bleak and cold
wrapped in winter's chill

under skies uncertain
I feel your wrath
in grey and bitter steel

But I remember
a sweeter time
in summer's warm embrace

your gentle hands
caressed my hair
and softly brushed my face

while dancing trees
they sang your song
in a haunting melody

and branches whispered
upon velvet nights
of love and poetry

Paparazzi Ducks

Over the summer I took hundreds of pictures of the ducks in Bowring Park. Unfortunately for me, ducks never stay still long enough to get a great photo. Most of them had motion blur. However, I did manage to get a few "not so bad" shots.

Earlier this fall I went back to see the ducks and it appeared as though they were either very happy to see me or out to get me... I'm not sure which!
I ran and they chased me. I stopped and they stopped. I decided to divide and conquer and it worked! They all went off in different directions totally confused.

Seriously... they were like Paparazzi Ducks :)

by the window...

by the window
awash in reveries

I heard your voice

as the rain fell

in satin ribbons

and eternal tears

Bella

Meet Bella

When my daughter started college in September and moved into an apartment with a NO PETS ALLOWED policy - guess who came to live with me?

Bella. Bad Bad Bella.

She is about 8 months old and is spoiled rotten. This cat has absolutely no idea how to play on her own. She cries incessantly until I stop whatever it is I am doing and play with her. In the short time I've had her she has destroyed two sets of curtains, a bed skirt, shower curtains, a plant and numerous ornaments.

It's taken me awhile to get a handle on Bella's personality. My last two cats were male, very laid back and extremely loving.

But Bella is about as cuddly as a cactus. She refuses to be picked up, held or stroked and any attempts to do so has always resulted in blood shed. Mine of course. I am a slow learner...

Her saving grace?

She makes me laugh at her crazy antics. Like when skids out and crashes into a wall because she is chasing imaginary monsters or maybe they are chasing her - I'm never quite sure which.
Or when she lays in wait on top of the fridge so she can reach out and grab my hair as I walk by and scare the wits out of me.

This is the day she met the DOG.
Bristled up like a porcupine she is asserting her authority over a German Shepherd/Husky who could care less about her existence.

Brave & Fearless Bella.
I believe she is starting to grow on me!

Lonely Room

Photobucket

Inside the walls
of your lofty domain
you shun the world
in bitter disdain

Walking with demons
who possess your soul
they destroyed your spirit
and left you cold

In a tower of contempt
anger and pride
cursing your loved ones
you tossed them aside

The remnants of your life
like bubbles in the air
reflect the carnage
and devastation you bear

So lonely in your room
where tear drops trace
the sullen lines
upon your face

And yet I still wait
for your eyes to see
that love will not waver

and will always be

Written for one I love dearly but have lost to anger, pride and addiction.
